Microbes and genitalia shape
Supervisor: Klaus Reinhardt
Background: Genitalia are the fastest evolving organs showing a huge diversity. The most prominent hypothesis is that sexual selection shapes the evolution of genitalia. That is most likely true, but also a bit boring. We have a great system that transmits microbes during sex – bedbugs – and we are hoping to build artificial genitalia to examine evolutionary costs of microbes on genitalia shape. Nobody has done that – would you want to be the first? Please get in touch.
